Since 2013, the Indian River Lagoon Paddle Adventure (IRLPA) has raised funds to support IRL educational programs and help increase awareness of the importance of the entire IRL system.
Through these contributions, we will also fund scholarships for young students attending the Anglers for Conservation’s Advanced Teen Angler Camps held at the Marine Resource Council’s Lagoon House on the west shore of the IRL.
Funds are being used to build what we plan will be a long-running annual event “Paddle a Portion” of the IRLPA organized to help more people get out on the IRL.
A portion of these funds has been used to design, build, distribute and house IRL educational kiosks at non-profit partnership locations. The hosting facilities include the Marine Discovery Center in New Smyrna Beach, the Lagoon House in Palm Bay, the Florida Oceanographic Society in Stuart and the Loxahatchee River Center in Jupiter. In addition to the kiosks, each host received a $1500 grant from the IRL Paddle Adventure to use towards educational programs of their choice.
Donations to the 2015 IRL Paddle Adventure will be processed and administered by the Anglers for Conservation, a 501(c)(3) organization, registered to solicit donations in the State of Florida.
